Currently Ukraine is suffering from active hostilities, thousands of people have lost their homes, millions have been displaced, lost their jobs, health and lives.
Charitable Foundation Library Country together with the Ukrainian Library Association have created a Fund to provide financial assistance to librarians who find themselves in difficult circumstances.

These funds will be provided to support librarians from regions where active hostilities are taking place: Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Volyn, Kyiv region and city of Kyiv.
The funds will be used for temporary rent, purchase of medicines, clothes, food.
Due to limited funds, the organizers will not be able to provide assistance to all who need it, so we are looking for caring colleagues who can make a significant contribution.
For the date 25/05/2022 almost 11.000 Euros were collected from donors and were disseminated among 150 librarians, but received 350 applications.
Librarian from Malyn, Zhytomyr region: “My family is forced to go to relatives, without the necessities, without clothes and medicine. My city is bombed every day, it is impossible to live there. I have type 2 diabetes; I constantly need medication. My child needs clothes and shoes. My husband lost his job. That’s why I hope for your help.”
Librarian from Rubizhne, Luhansk region: “My city was destroyed, every day under fire, the apartment was destroyed, my family and I left (with two children: 3 and 14 years old), now we are in Odesa. We were helped with the apartment, volunteers help us with food”.
Librarian from Trostyanets, Sumy region: “We fled from a completely enemy-occupied city. To get to the “green corridor”, getting out of the basement, I and my two children had to walk 25 km. We took only documents and some food with us, we didn’t have time to take anything else and couldn’t take it so far on foot. Now we are in Ivano-Frankivsk, where good people have given us shelter. But we have problems with clothes and food”.
