In January 2022 the "Library Country" charitable foundation is a partner of the Ukrainian-Swiss project "Acting for Health", with the support of which we are launching a new unique project "Health care and disease prevention through libraries and literature". We are starting to work with 20 pilot libraries in the communities of Lviv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Rivne, and Kherson regions to comprehensively inform citizens about the prevention of non-communicable diseases through libraries and literature.

Why libraries? It is a powerful center where, through books and information materials, people can learn more about how to prevent non-communicable diseases and change their lifestyle.

What are the plans for the project?

  • we will fill the pilot libraries with books on health care;
  • we will equip "health corners" in these libraries
  • we will hold online lectures for librarians on health care and prevention of non-communicable diseases;
  • we will organize an exchange of experience with an expert from Great Britain;
  • we will hold live and online meetings on the topic of health care with the authors of publications;
  • we will hold a strategic session for librarians;
  • we will develop informational materials about the role of libraries in health promotion;
  • we will spread the experience gained in the project.
